Cedar golf team earns runner-up honors at MidStates meet

BATTLE CREEK — The Cedar Catholic golf team finished second out of 10 teams in the Mid-State Conference Tournament at the Evergreen Hills Golf Course.

Wayne won the tournament with a team score of 332, Cedar was five strokes back at 337.

Dalton Lammers led the way for the Trojans on the cold and wet afternoon with an 18-hole score of 79. He finished third among all golfers at the tournament.

Grant Howell finished second for Cedar and eighth overall with a  score of 84.

“The weather was far from ideal for a golf tournament,” said Coach Mike Johnson. “Before the tournament started the kids and I talked about how the teams that were mentally tough and battled through the cold and wind would do well. I am real proud of how these young men stepped up their mental game at the conference tournament. I felt we did a real good job of battling all day long.
