HARTINGTON —  Students at Hartington Public School are raving about the remodeling done at the elementary facility this summer.

Randy Anderson, superintendent at Hartington Public and Crofton, read a letter from the Hartington Student Council at the Aug. 19 Hartington Public School Board meeting.

“Visitors who come to our school will be impressed by the look of both the high school and the elementary,” the letter read. “This new construction should help our school for years to come.”

Anderson told Board members he was thankful for all their hard work on the project.

He also mentioned several more possible renovation projects for the future at both the elementary and high school.

The Board was told three new staff members were added to fill vacant positions. Teresa Fischer is the new paraprofessional who replaces Heather Jones.

She stepped down from this position but will continue to be the cheerleading sponsor.

Two people joined the cafeteria staff. Holly Sextro replaced Jolene Arens who resigned last spring. JoAnn Wiebelhaus is taking over part-time in the kitchen for Mary Leise. She will work two and a half days a week.

The school is also looking at purchasing a new 2014 Demonstrator diesel bus. Financing for the bus could be done one of two ways, the Board was told.
