HARTINGTON — Northeast Community College will soon be moving into town.
Hartington Economic Development Coordinator Carla Becker and Development President Chris Miller approached the city Aug. 12 to ask if they would furnish an office for a NECC regional coordinator.
“They would like to have a part-time 15 hours per week regional education center coordinator to be housed in Hartington,” Becker said.
The city approved the motion following a short discussion.
The person in this position would identify program and training needs of the region and represent the college at county and other meetings.
They would also host college public relations events and act as a liaison with community organizations.
The Hartington Economic Development Board feels the college’s presence would be beneficial not only to residents and businesses in Hartington but also those in the county and region.
