HARTINGTON — A new survey will provide important information about housing needs here.

After a short discussion, Hartington Economic Development Coordinator Carla Becker gained the city’s approval at their Sept. 23 meeting to go ahead with sending a housing survey to the city’s residents.

Becker stressed how important it was for community members to fill out the survey.

“By providing the housing and services that people are looking for, we feel that people would be more apt to stay in our community and it may attract others to come and live here, too,” she said.

With the help of a website called Survey Monkey, Becker created a survey that asks a variety of questions ranging from a person’s demographics to their current living situation.

It also asks if people are interested in or thinking about changing their living situation in the near future. Finally, the survey gives people a chance to rate their satisfaction with the town’s support services such as counseling, law enforcement, and adult care services to name a few.
