HARTINGTON — A crew has finished paving about half of the sidewalk on the west side of Broadway Avenue from State Street to Main Street.
They are planning to finish it early next week. Work on the sidewalks in front of the Cedar County News and Globe Clothing buildings will be completed next.
All the paving should be done by mid next week, said Dale Bohac at the Aug. 22 downtown project progress meeting.
With work being done in front of the Cedar County News building, the front door will be unusable either next Tuesday or Wednesday.
Customers are asked to use the door located on the west side of the building.
The intersections of State and Main Street are going to stay closed until all paving is finished. But, by the middle of next week, they will be reopened to thru traffic, according to Jason Aschoff, of A & R Construction in Hartington.
Bohac also mentioned the railings in front of Mrs. Z’s Ice Cream Shop and Sue’s Style Shop would be installed within the next few weeks.
Also, an electrical crew will begin pulling the wiring for the light poles starting next week sometime.
“The lights poles will be installed the first week of September,” Bohac said.
Painting of the parking stripes is going to be one of the last items on the “to do” list, he added.
No plans have been confirmed on whether the lines will be painted a block at a time or all at once.
The next downtown project progress meeting will be Aug. 29 at 10 a.m. at Hartington City Hall.
