HARTINGTON — Hartington’s Russ Hochstein Field will be a busy place this football season.
The local football stadium will open the 2012 football campaign by hosting a double-header weekend.
Cedar Catholic will host Oakland-Craig Aug. 30 and the Hartington Wildcats open their home season the following night, Friday, with a tough contest against perennial powerhouse Bloomfield.
The Cats are at home again the next week when Wynot comes to town for the Sept. 7 game.
Cedar Catholic will take to the field the next week as the Trojans ost Ponca Sept. 14 and Crofton Sept. 21.
The field will be dark Sept. 28 as both the Wildcats and Trojans travel that week. Hartington hits the road to Winnebago, while the Trojans will travel to Norfolk to take on Lutheran High Northeast.
Hartington gets the home field advantage the next two weeks as the Cats play host to Pender, then Randolph Oct. 5 and Oct. 12 respectively.
The NSAA has both Cedar and Hartington High scheduled to play at home Oct. 5. No official word has been made as to how that will be handled, however.
Cedar will close out the regular season at home as the Trojans finish out by hosting Wisner-Pilger.
Huskerland Prep Report released its Top 10 list in its 23rd annual pre-season publication.
The Central City magazine has listed Crofton, Cedar Catholic and Ponca as three of the Top Ten teams in Class C2 football this season.
