WYNOT — The Wynot Blue Devils had little trouble with Winside in Friday’s District match-up as they kept the Wildcats winless with a 53-20 pasting.
The Devils raced out to a 41-6 halftime lead as they evened their season mark at 3-3 with the win.
Jackson Sudbeck continues to throw the ball well as he fired six touchdown passes on the night. Three each to Cody Stratman and Davis Wieseler as well as adding a nine-yard touchdown run to his scoring totals.
Brady Stratman anchored the defense with 12 tackles and Scott Foxhoven continues his steady linebacker play with 10 stops and a fumble recovery. Cody Stratman also added an interception.
The Winside Wildcats depended on their ground game for offense and Caleb Leinemann led the way with 18 carries for 139 yards, while Gage Main had a solid performance with 121 yards on 24 carries to lead the Wildcat attack.
Wynot got off to a quick start in this one as with just two minutes into the game Jackson Sudbeck hooked up on a 28-yard scoring strike to Cody Stratman. The PAT run was stuffed and Wynot led 6-0 early.
The Blue Devil defense stopped the Wildcats and after the punt Cody Stratman got behind the Wildcat defense and Sudbeck hit him in full stride for a 50-yard scoring bomb. The PAT pass was no good and Wynot pushed their lead to 12-0.
As the first quarter wound down the Blue Devils put together a nice 65-yard drive. Jackson Sudbeck swept the left side for a 9-yard touchdown. Sudbeck hit his big tight end Nathan Wieseler in the corner of the endzone for the PAT to make it 20-0 at the end of the first period of play.
Winside moved the ball early in the second quarter, but coughed up a fumble on the Blue Devil 18-yard line and Scott Foxhoven punched in the loose ball for Wynot. Wynot then started a long drive to paydirt. Runs of 5 and 7 yards by Brady Stratman followed by an 8 yard scramble by Jackson Sudbeck moved the ball into enemy territory. Scott Foxhoven would rumble the final 20 yards around the left side for the score. Davis Wieseler kicked the PAT and Wynot kept rolling 27-0.
On the ensueing kick Caleb Leinemann would find a seam up the right side and bolt 60 yards to the Blue Devil two-yard line. A holding penalty pushed the ball back to the seven-yard line, but Gage Main would bounce off tacklers at the line of scrimmage and score on the next play. The PAT was no good and Winside was on the board trailing 27-6.
Wynot would answer right back as Sudbeck again found Cody Stratman on a crossing pattern and Stratman did the rest as he raced 34 yards for the score. Wieseler also kicked the PAT and Wynot widened their lead to 34-6.
Wynot would add one more score before the half as in the final seconds Sudbeck and Davis Wieseler connected from 22 yards out for Wieseler’s first touchdown of the game. Wieseler kick was good and Wynot went into the half with a commanding 41-6 advantage.
The two teams would trade touchdowns in the third quarter. Wynot struck first with Jackson Sudbeck and Davis Wieseler connecting on a 54-yard scoring aerial. The PAT pass was no good.
Winside answered with a 55 yard drive capped by a 1 yard Dylan Tweedy blast. The PAT was no good and Wynot sat comfortably at 47-12.
