RANDOLPH — Vernon W. Riggert, 83, Randolph, died April 13, 2011, at Colonial Manor, Randolph.
Visitation was April 17 at Stonacek Memorial Chapel, Pierce.
Funeral Services were April 18 at Christ Lutheran Church, Pierce, with Rev. Matthew Bahnfleth and Rev. Derrick Fallon officiating.
Interment was in Prospect View Cemetery, Pierce.
Casketbearers were Greg Luebe, Mark Luebe, Brad Luebe, Scott Luebe, Doug Luebe, Jim Luebe, Ed Luebe, Kent Luebe and Kirk Luebe.
Vernon was born Dec. 8, 1927, in Pierce County, to Otto and Esther (Bockelman) Riggert. He was baptized at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Pierce, and confirmed June 14, 1942, at Christ Lutheran Church, Pierce. He attended school at District 44 through the eighth grade. He married Mardell Luebe June 12, 1949, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Randolph. After they were married, they farmed north of Pierce. She died July 11, 1999. He married Jeanie Wesemann Aug. 31, 2002, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Randolph.
Vernon enjoyed being with family and friends, playing cards and visiting. Special people in his life were his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He retired from farming in 2006. He was a resident of the Colonial Manor, Randolph, only a short time.
He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Pierce.
Surivors include his wife, Jeanie Riggert, Randolph; son, David and wife, Wanda Riggert, Pierce; two daughters, Cindy Riggert, Pierce, and Dawn and husband, Steve Sivers, Pierce; two grandchildren, Jennifer and husband, Jeff Meier, Pierce, and Travis and wife, Gretchen Riggert, Pierce; great-grandchildren, Claudia and Adrienne Riggert, and Carter Meier; step grandchildren, Jessica and Neil Sivers; one sister, Delores Woltman, Pierce; step children, Denise and husband, Tom Peebles, Salina, Kan, and; Dave and wife, Raleen Wesemann, Lincoln; step grandchildren, Carissa, Juliann and Callie Peebles, Alyssa and Seth Wesemann; and step great-grandchild, Leah Peebles.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mardell; and step grandson, Joshua.
