MENOMINEE — Norbert J. Bollich, 87, Menominee, died April 6, 2011, at Avera Yankton Care Center, Yankton, S.D.
Visitation was April 8 at the Opsahl-Kostel Funeral Home and Crematory, Yankton, and resumed one hour prior to the service at the church.
Mass of Christian Burial was April 9 at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Menominee, with Rev. David Fulton officiating.
Burial was in the parish cemetery with military graveside rites.
Norbert Joseph Bollich was born Oct. 26, 1923, to Frank and Mary (Perk) Bollich, in rural St. Helena. He joined the United States Army Feb. 21, 1946, and received his honorable discharge April 27, 1947. He married Marina Kleinschmit Sept. 12, 1949, at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Menominee. They had eight children.
Norbert started farming, which he did most of his life and until he had heat stroke. He worked at Wilson Trailer and continued to farm.
He enjoyed riding horses, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed traveling throughout the United States with his wife, visiting family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Marina, Menominee; his children and spouses, Linda and Paul Hodgdon, Las Vegas, Nev.; Daniel and Sharleen Bollich, Great Falls, Mont.; LeeRoy and Shirley Bollich, Great Falls, Mont.; Anthony and Tina Bollich, Charlotte, N.C.; Norma and Chris DeJong, Alamogordo, N.M.; Brian and Sue Bollich, Omaha; and Bruce and Donna Bollich, Menominee; 24 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Renee Bollich, Yankton, S.D.; two sisters, Sally Blaschke, Fordyce, and Lorraine Schlueter, Becker, Minn.; and many nieces and nephews.
Norbert was preceded in death by his son, Gary; his parents; and siblings, Anthony, Leona, Alvin, Arthur and Colleen.
