NORFOLK — Carrol D. Fahrenholz, 80, Norfolk, died April 21, 2011, at Faith Regional Health Services West Campus, Norfolk.
Visitation was April 24 at Stonacek Memorial Chapel, Pierce.
Funeral services were April 25 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, rural Pierce, with Rev. Keith Christiansen officiating.
Interment was in Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery, Norfolk.
Casketbearers were Chad Hitz, Travis Hitz, Luke Koerting, Jason Willard, Doug Ohnoutka, Nathan Stevens and Brent McCollough.
Honorary casketbearers were Mindy Ohnoutka, Nichole Deck, Amanda Deck, Samantha Deck, Kimberly Stevens, Vali Hitz, Emily Willard, Cassie Koerting, Tara Sporleder, Shantell Sporleder, Brandi Sporleder, Savannah Hitz, Jaxon Koerting, and Kasey and Alex Ohnoutka.
Carrol was born June 25, 1930, to Richard and Minnie (Kufahl) Fahrenholz, in Norfolk. He was baptized and confirmed in St. John’s Lutheran Church, Norfolk. He attended Norfolk Public School and District #16, Pilger. Carrol married Ione Linda Schulz Jan. 20, 1954, at St. John’s Parsonage, Rural Pierce. After they were married, they farmed in the Randolph, Hoskins, Pierce area. They moved to Pierce in 2007.
Carrol did custom farming, he enjoyed the grandchildren and family, buying Farmall antique tractors and gambling. He loved talking to anyone who would listen.
Carrol was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Pierce, and the National Guard.
Survivors include his wife, Ione Fahrenholz, Norfolk; three daughters and spouses, Connie and Robert Hitz, Raymond; Cheri and Steve Deck, Winside; Penny and Gene Sporleder, Pierce; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, and one due in August; two sisters, Betty Doyle, Grand Island, and Darlene and husband, Wallace Siefken, Norfolk.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Virgil and Vernon Dale.
