SIOUX CITY, Iowa — The Briar Cliff University Singers will present “Passion” at 3 p.m., Sunday, April 17, 2011, in Our Lady of Grace Chapel on campus.
The event will feature a variety of music and worship selections, including dramatic readings, excerpts fromPergolesi’s Stabat Mater accompanied by a professional string quintet, as well as unaccompanied motets and Gregorian chant.
“This program is much more than a concert,” said Dr. Sean Burton, division chair of arts and humanities at BCU. “It is a genuine depiction of Mary’s reaction to the crucifixion of Christ,” explained Dr. Burton, who also is assistant professor of music and director of choral activities at Briar Cliff.
This is a free public event. A free-will offering will be accepted.
