Boeckman sets new track standard

ORANGE CITY, Iowa — A former area track athlete is quickly making a big name for himself on the college level.
Briar Cliff freshman Ryan Boeckman, former student of Wynot Public School, set the Briar Cliff school record in the discus.

He threw the discus 143’1’’ during a recent meet in Orange City taking fourth place.
Boeckman’s toss unseated Ryan Tatro who set the school record back in 2007 with a throw of 136’8’’.
This was not Boeckman’s first record, however, he holds Wynot’s  school record, as well, with a throw of 167’3’’.

Boeckman left quite a list of accomplishments behind when he graduated from Wynot High School in 2010.
He was named the MVP of the 2010 Wynot track team and the 2009 Wynot football team. He also earned All State and  All District honors in football and earned All Conference Honorable Mention status in basketball.

He has also been a life-long participant in local baseball, being named the last two years to the American Legion Senior All Star team.
