HARTINGTON — Property owned by the city of Hartington was damaged during the storm last week.
A large tree fell on a building that sits on land that adjoins the east city park.
The building, which was currently being rented to Randy Kathol Construction, was insured for around $6,000.
Morten Dairy was located in the building at one time.
Council members voted to take the building down, clear the spot and use the land as part of the park.
A barricade will be put around the building for safety reasons according to Mayor Bill Yates.
“As soon as we hear from the insurance company the building will come down,” Yates said.
The city also lost some trees at the Community Complex and had tree damage at the golf course. The dugouts at the Complex were also damaged by the 80 mile an hour winds.

HARTINGTON — Judge William Binkard will determine in early August if a lawsuit against the Coleridge Village Board will be dismissed.
The issue concerns a conditional-use permit which would allow a feedlot within one mile of  Coleridge. A lawsuit was then filed to oppose the move  – although a final decision on the issue could be a long way down the road.
Three attorneys presented arguments before Judge Binkard on Monday.
Binkard gave the attorneys an opportunity to file briefs to support their arguments concerning the lawsuit.
