Local golfers compete at Wakefield

WAKEFIELD — Cedar Catholic opened the  2008 girls’ golf season with a fifth-place finish in the season-opening Wakefield Invitational Friday.
Crofton outshot Humphrey St. Francis 411-413 to win the team title at Wakefield Friday.  Elkhorn Valley was third in the team race with a 433.
Danielle Kuchar of Humphrey St. Francis fired an 81 to win the Wakefield girls golf invite Friday.
The Cedar golf team was led by Jaclyn Wiebelhaus, who fired a 103 on the day to finish in 10th place. Katelyn Eickhoff finished right behind her with a 105.
Hartington High School and Cedar Catholic High School will both compete in the West Holt Invitational at Atkinson on Thursday.
The Lady Cats will host a dual with Plainview on Sept. 16 at the Hartington Golf Course. Cedar Catholic will have a dual with Pierce on Sept. 9.
