Obituary – Doris Tramp

Doris P. Tramp, age 80, formerly of Fordyce, Nebraska, died Saturday, February 2, 2008 at Avera Sister James Care Center in Yankton.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM, on Tuesday, February 5, 2008, at Wintz & Ray Funeral Home in Yankton with Reverend Ken Bain officiating. Burial will be in the St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery in Fordyce, Nebraska.

Visitation is from 3:00 to 8:00 PM, on Monday, at the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home in Yankton with a rosary at 7:00 PM and a prayer service at 7:30 PM.

Pallbearers will be Doris’s grandsons, Scott Weinandt, Chris Weinandt, Ben Donner, Adam Donner, Tony Donner, Jess Tramp, and Nick Bergman. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Shannon and Scott Burgett, Jessica Bergman, Becky Tramp, Rachel Tramp, Mariah Failing, Nick Wieseler, Chrissy Wieseler, Jen Wieseler, Tanis Weinandt, Jayme Weinandt, and Wendy Donner.

Doris was born April 21, 1927, to Romeo and Aurore Berube in Biddeford, Maine. At the age of 17, she met Harold Tramp while he was stationed in Maine during World War II. They were married on February 6, 1945 and moved from her home in Biddeford to Fordyce, Nebraska, where she lived all her life. She worked at Dales, Mtron, and also for the West Catholic School in Fordyce in the lunch program. She was a member of the Ladies Guild, and Christian Mothers until her retirement. She loved bowling, crocheting, doing crossword puzzles, and in her later years she especially enjoyed shopping trips with her daughters.

She is survived by her four children, Dottie (Gerard) Weinandt of Yankton, South Dakota, Kathie (Bob) Wieseler of Yankton, Kim Tramp of Yankton, and Jody Bergman of Enid, Oklahoma; 12 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and one sister, Dorothy Jalbert of Biddeford, Maine.

She was preceded in death by her parents; step-father, Joe Arquin; husband, Harold; and brother, Roger Berube.
