Cedar Catholic eighth grader Mitch Heine played the lead role of Tom Sawyer for the play. The play was directed by Cedar Catholic music teacher JoAnne Hamilton.

Colby Wieseler played Tom’s friend Huck Finn.

HARTINGTON — The Cedar Catholic golf team is hoping to improve upon its fifth-place state finish this year.
The Cedar golf team is slated to start its 10-meet season April 3 with a triangular here.
Cedar is scheduled to host Stanton and Norfolk Catholic in the season-opening meet at the Hartington Golf Club.

HARTINGTON — Ralph Joseph Leise, 80, Hartington, died of a heart attack March 25, 2008, at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital, Yankton, S.D.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home, Hartington.

HARTINGTON — The Meridian Bridge Hiking Trail took another step closer to reality last week.
The Lewis and Clark NRD board voted to accept the Meridian Trail/Dept. of Roads program Agreement at Thursday night’s meeting.

HARTINGTON — Park Board President Jerry Wintz met with Hartington City Council members Monday.
Wintz went over the proposed 2008 salaries, along with the previous year’s salaries for the employees at the swimming pool.

Hartington —  Cedar County Commissioners agreed Tuesday to spend $36,801 to move the Cedar County Veteran’s Memorial Monument.
The monument is presently located on the northeast corner of the courthouse lot.
The monument will be moved to the south side of the courthouse so a new addition can be built on the northwest side of the courthouse.

HARTINGTON  —  The Cedar County Historical Society Museum got some much needed help from the county recently.
County workers joined with Cedar County Historical Society members for spring cleaning last week.
Workers from the three Cedar County road department districts all rolled up their sleeves and offered their help.

Hartington —  There were no objections during a 10-minute Hartington City Council public hearing Monday concerning the rezoning of land for an animal hospital.
No one attended the hearing to appose a change in zoning which will allow an Animal Hospital to be located within the city limits.
The location for the proposed animal hospital is on the east side of Highway 57 just south of Scott’s Package Liquor store.

HARTINGTON  — Nebraska’s highest court will have the final say in a Cedar County Freeholding Court case that has drug on for several years, now.
The Freeholding issue, which has plagued the Wynot School District since 2006, will bypass the Nebraska Court of Appeals in favor of a direct decision at the Supreme Court level.
In the Petition to Bypass, Attorney Dave Domina said the case is of significant public interest in northeast Nebraska.
