PONCA — The Hartington High School Lady Wildcats dropped a 63-53 decision in the season-opener here Thursday.

CROFTON — The Cedar Catholic Lady Trojans fell to defending state champion Crofton 51-42 in opening-season girls’ basketball action Thursday.

The early season rust showed in this contest, as the Lady Warriors forced Cedar into 24 turnovers in the contest.

Cedar’s only three-year sarter, Kala Sudbeck paced the Lady Trojan offense with a game-high 18 points.

HARTINGTON — Cedar Catholic’s wrestling team began its fourth season Thursday when the Trojans hosted Scribner-Snyder here in a dual wrestling meet.

Only six Cedar varsity wrestlers were able to compete in the meet, so Scribner-Snyder earned 36 forfeit points on the night. Scribner-Snyder defeated Cedar 54-21 in the contest.

Cedar picked up points when Kyle Dump earned a 35-second pin over David Meyer in the heavyweight division. Mark Wortmann won a thrilling come-from-behind 11-7 victory in the 160-pound division over Tommy Griffin to earn three team points.

HARTINGTON — The Hartington Little League Basketball season will begin soon.

Practices for the little leaguers will begin soon. The league, which began in 1966, has been expanded this year to include younger players.
