RANDOLPH — Cedar Catholic’s dominant rushing attack and stingy defense Friday led to a 32-3 victory for the Trojans.
Cedar Catholic is now 4-1 on the year and 2-0 in District C2-1.
The unyielding Cedar Catholic defense gave up just 32 passing yards, while holding the Cardinals to just 95 yards on the ground. The Cardinals were only able to muster eight first downs in the contest.
Cedar sacked Randolph quarterback Jon Patent four times on the night.
The Cedar defense was led in the contest by Tim Wieseler, Kyle Dump and Myles Lammers.

COLERIDGE — The Coleridge Bulldogs cruised to a 59-8 win over Wynot Friday.

Wynot, which entered the contest with several players already beat up, had a tough time  time stopping the potent Coleridge offense.

HARTINGTON — The Bancroft-Rosalie Panthers earned a 26-13 over Hartington in a battle of unbeatens here Friday.

The two teams were deadlocked at 6-6 until the closing seconds of the first half when the Panthers went up 13-6.

WYNOT — The Wynot Lady Blue Devils improved to 7-2 on the year with a three-set win over Lewis and Clark Conference foe Bloomfield.

The Lady Devils defeated Bloomfield 25-19, 25-21, 25-22 to earn the victory.

Wynot was paced in the contest by a very strong net performance by Sarah Wieseler, who eas 21-22 in attacks with 13 kills. Shelby Hans also had a good night at the net, making good on 16-21 attacks with nine kills.

RANDOLPH — The Cedar Catholic Trojans and Randolph Cardinals will tee it up for the 31st time when they face each other Friday night in gridiron action.

The 7 p.m. game also marks the culmination of Homecoming Week for the Cardinals.

Cedar boasts a 19-11 record over the Cardinals. The Trojans have won nine of the last 11 meetings with the Cardinals.  The last time Randolph defeated Cedar was in 2004, when the Cardinals staged a come-from-behind rally to earn the 28-25 win. Randolph’s passing game and Cedar’s missed opportunities on extra points added up to the Cardinal win.

HARTINGTON — The visiting West Point Central Catholic Blue Jays hung a three-set loss on the Cedar Catholic Lady Trojans in front of a large Parent’s Night crowd.
The Lady Jays swept all three games Thursday, 25-12, 25-11, 25-14 against the Lady Trojans.
The loss drops Cedar to 4-11 on the year and 0-4 in the MidState Conference.
Cedar senior Kyla Hochstein had a team-high six digs, her best mark of the season. The Lady Trojans had a solid game at the net, knocking down 12 kills and shoving back 11 blocks.

HARTINGTON — Estel Earl Hughes, 90,  Hartington, died Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2007 at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton, SD.

Funeral Services will be on Thursday, September 27, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at the Golden Living Center in Hartington with the Rev. Bob Bryan officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the nursing home. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in Sioux City, Iowa. Wintz Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

HARTINGTON — Lucille P. Kuchta, 72, Hartington, died on Wednesday, September 26, 2007 at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton, SD.

Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, Sept. 30, 2007 at 11 a.m. at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Hartington with Rev. John Pietramale, Rev. Jim Keiter, and Monsignor Cyril Werner concelebrating. Burial will be in the St. Michael’s Cemetery in Hartington. Visitation will be at the church on Friday from 3:00 to 8:00 pm with a rosary at 4:00 pm and a vigil service at 7:30pm. Visitation will be one hour prior to services on Saturday at the church.

HARTINGTON — West Point CC pulled off a clean sweep over Cedar Catholic in MidState Conference volleyball action here Thursday.

The Lady Blue Jays defeated the Cedar varsity in three sets. West Point also won the JV and Freshman games.

Cedar was led at the net in the contest by Megan Miller and Kay Pinkelman with four kills each.

HARTINGTON — The Hartington Lady Wildcats split a pair of Lewis and Clark Conference contests last week.
The Lady Cats fell to Bloomfield in three sets Tuesday and defeated Osmond in three sets Thursday.
Bloomfield took control of the contest early to defeat Hartington,  25-17, 25-18, 25-20.
The Lady Cats were led at the net by Devon Kathol, who had eight kills. Sheila Wiebelhaus contributed with three kills
Liz Kneifl and Nikki Heikes set up the offense with seven and five assists, respectivley.
The Hartington defense was led in the contest by Dana Fuelberth, who had 10 digs and two ace blocks.

WALTHLL — The Hartington Wildcats are off to their best start since 1995.
Hartington improved its season record to 4-0 with a 63-14 pasting of Walthill Friday.
Hartington’s offense took off early and the Wildcats never looked back as the Cats scored on the third play of the game, the fourth play, and the sixth play.
“Walthill was unable to stop us. It was not the kind of game we needed with state-rated Bancroft-Rosalie coming to town next week,” said Coach Tim Manzer.
Coach Manzer was pleased he was able to get a lot of players into the game Friday, though.
