Donald I. Polak COLERIDGE ? Donald I. Polak, 69, Coleridge, died Nov. 20, 2006, at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital, Yankton, S.D. Visitation will be Nov. 23, from 4-8 p.m., with a vigil service at 7 p.m., at St. Michael?s Catholic Church, Coleridge. It will continue one hour prior to services at the church Friday morning. Mass of Christian Burial will be Nov. 24, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Michael?s Catholic Church, with Rev. John Pietramale officiating. Inurnment will be at St. Michael?s Cemetery, Coleridge. Wintz Funeral Home, Coleridge, is in charge of arrangements.

Bernice Perreira CANON CITY, Colo. ? Bernice Perreira (the former Mrs. Leonard Walz), 97, Canon City, Colo., died Nov. 16, 2006, at the Hildabrand Care Center, Canon City. Funeral Services are pending at the Wintz Funeral Home, Hartington.

Robert D. Carlson PIERCE? Robert D. Carlson, 59, Pierce, died Nov. 15, 2006, at Pierce Manor, Pierce. Visitation was Nov. 17 prior to services at Johnson-Stonacek Funeral Chapel, Norfolk. Funeral services were Nov. 17 at Johnson-Stonacek Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Murry Johnston officiating. Burial was at Laurel City Cemetery. Pallbearers were David Wickett, Frank Wickett, Steve Obermeyer, Lloyd Kamrath and Chuck Carlson Robert was born April 6, 1947, in Sioux City, Iowa, to Oscar Carlson and Donna June Wickett. He lived on a farm in the Laurel and Dixon areas. He attended rural country school near Laurel, and graduated from Laurel High School in 1964. He attended electronics school in Omaha for a short time. He has been a resident of Pierce Manor since August 2006. Survivors include a sister, Janet and husband, Gary Kavanaugh, Laurel; two brothers, Ted Carlson, Brandon, S.D., and Richard Carlson, Ponca; two nieces, Deb and husband, Steve Obermeyer, Wakefield, and Colleen Kavanaugh, Orlando, Fla.; and step mother, Mabel Carlson, Norfolk. He was preceded in death by his parents.
