GRAND ISLAND — The Nebraska Early Childhood Policy Leadership Academy, the state’s premier, early childhood leadership initiative, recently wrapped up its 2023-24 program in Grand Island. Jackie Steffen, Nebraska Extension Early Childhood Educator of Hartington and Jessica Lueth, Cardinal Kids Early Learning Center Director of Randolph, completed the six-month program alongside 22 other advocates representing early childhood and higher education, public health, nonprofits, civic organizations, businesses and economic development entities. Steffen and Lueth join a network of nearly 150 PLA alumni working in communities throughout the state to strengthen Nebraska’s early childhood systems.

Read moreHARTINGTON — The March 28 Local Working Group meeting was hosted by Lewis & Clark Natural Resources District and the Natural Resources Conservation Service. The meeting provides a platform for producers, stakeholders, and partner organizations from Cedar, Knox, and Dixon County to participate in the NRCS conservation planning efforts, to provide input on prioritization of local resource concerns, and to make recommendations to enhance programs and practices available through NRCS. In attendance were 15 local producers and representatives from a number of conservation organizations, including UNL Extension, NE Game and Parks Commission, NE Forest Service, Ponca Tribe of NE, Santee Sioux Nation, and the Farm Service Agency.
